INTO THE WAVES | Into the Waves was my first commissioned acrylic painting to make its mark through my family. As an upcoming young artist, my family did not always have an open mind to pursue art as a serious profession. Into the Waves paved the way for my passion to receive acceptance. Into the Waves captured the interest of one of my hardest critics........ my younger brother.

PASION DE FAMILIA | Pasion de Familia was an acrylic painting exercise done on a large paper sketchpad. Pasion de Familia was meant to challenge myself to use an explosive amount of color and motion. I wanted to depict the amount of support and encouragement I was receiving from my family towards my artistic journey, as well as my personal growth as a young Hispanic woman. Within the gaze of the young girl lies the pressure to succeed and exceed expectations.

BLUE COUCHES | Blue Couches depicts an abandoned trailer home that I often found myself admiring. I found awe in the serene, empty home that once held life. My favorite sight was the blue couches sitting comfortably within the wild overgrowing bushes. Blue Couches was gifted to my art teacher, Mrs. Meir, as appreciation for the lessons and confidence she instilled in me regarding the use of color.

CULTURA EN LAS PALMAS | Cultura en las Palmas was my very first professional commissioned project. I created this acrylic painting on traditional stretched canvas for my high school band director, Mr. Lopez. I had never created a painting based on someone else's vision, so I was nervous with this project. It was also my first painting in which I forced myself to use so much color. Grayscale had become my comfort zone. Halfway through the project, I began to feel excited with the amount of detail and emotion fighting its way to be seen within the face and plant life around it. Cultra en las Palmas has become a special project that eased me in the world of color and freedom.
