ABOUT THE ARTIST

Dora Cardoza pictured with 'Lonely Skull' during her first ever self-sponsored art gallery held at the Wauchula Train Depot, located in Wauchula, Florida. Ms. Cardoza held this art gallery in 2018 on the one-year anniversary date of her late grandmother's passing, as a tribute for the remembrance of her life and immense impact. "My grandma was my biggest supporter to create my paintings. She's the reason I had the courage to pick up a paintbrush." -Ms. Cardoza  The art gallery showcased several original acrylic paintings throughout the depot. Proceeds gained from admission into the gallery were donated to One More Child, a Christ centered organization whose mission is to help struggling families, struggling mothers and vulnerable children.

AUTOBIOGRAPHY | Born in the simple charm of Wauchula, Florida, my passion for art began in Mrs. Patterson's art class held in Wauchula Elementary School. She inspired me to explore art and create with no limits. It was her creativity and essence of a disciplined artist that set me on the path to personal enlightenment within my own work. It was her strong spirit as a teacher that directed me to focus on my future rather than my tomorrow.
I remember a specific moment in which Mrs. Patterson did exactly that. While reviewing my assignment, she spoke to me about my drive for art. She told me if I wanted to turn my passion into my profession, I would need to take the right steps and work hard to build my craft. One of those steps happened to be admission into Ringling College of Art & Design, a prestigious private art school located in Sarasota, FL.
Throughout my childhood, I experimented and familiarized myself with all kinds of mediums, techniques, and materials. I familiarized myself with great artists from all over the globe throughout history. I worked hard to find my own unique signature as a painter.
In 2018, my senior year brought the moment of truth. It was time to know if all those years had paid off, and they had. I was accepted into Ringling College of Art & Design and was awarded the Dean's Scholarship valued at $40,000. From that moment on, my passion was fortified and recognized within myself and my family. I embarked on a path of creativity intertwined with business, founding Explicit Paintings and later evolving into Cultura Studios.
In 2022, I experienced life-altering changes that led to me to leave the comfortability of my hometown and move to the vibrant, busy city of Houston, Texas. It continues to be one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make. I’m still adjusting to the city life, but it's gotten easier as I find my place in my new community.
Since arriving in Houston, I’ve continued to work on my craft while exploring the massive diverse art community. I’ve networked and become acquainted with other artists. I’ve seen new wonders and pondered new concepts. As time goes on, I’m truly excited to see what comes next.
